As a kid growing up in Bristol Connecticut, I remember going shopping with my mother every week. After our grocery shopping at First National and Walston's Market we would go to either W.T. Grants or Woolworth's to eat at the snack counter.

My mom would allow me to buy 2 45's. So, while we ate I would look at the Top 20 Hits list and choose my singles for the week. WDRC and WPOP (both AM) were the rock stations and often the stores carried the lists.

My 45 collection grew rapidly. On my 16th birthday I wanted to get something special. This guy Ken Benton worked in the record department at Bradlees. He was cool and I asked to suggest something special for my birthday. He walked around the department and came up with 3 LP's that changed my life... The Moody Blues, In Search of the Lost Chord, King Crimson, In the Court of the Crimson King and The Blues Magoos, Basic Blues Magoos. My vision of music changed from that point on.

Now I was lucky enough to grow up with good friends like Steve Danis, Mike Ravita, Bob Breau, Bob (Bunny) Graham, Jim Miccucci, Dave Joslyn, Jackie Kilby,  Jeff Conrod to name a few. We enjoyed hanging out and listening to music. We made weekly trips to area record shops and listened to WHCN, WPLR and then discovered the great alternative stations from Hartford like WWUH and WRTC.

We listened and explored all kinds of new music (to us) from around the world. Rock, jazz, classical, electronic, folk, blues and more. It was fun and exciting. Most of us were musicians or artists in one way or another. We shared our discoveries with each other. Music was and still is a grand adventure.

In the late 70's I began working in some of the local specialty record stores in the area (Musicland, Looney Tunes Records and Tapes and Capital Record Shop).

I became friends with Susan in the mid 80's and got involved with WWUH. We still hung out and listened to new and interesting music the only difference being that the turntables were hooked up to transmitters and more people could hear us talk about the music.

Well 24 years later, I am still here on the air playing music, doing interviews and having fun with my friends. My vision is to present "classic underground" style college radio in 3 hours where the listener can tune in and drift away on a Sunday night. It's all in the mix.

My taste in music is varied. TGSFE focuses on psychedelic and progressive rock as well as electronic music of all types. Although I am certainly not tied to that rule. I do my best to play a mixture of new and old pieces. Where else would hear a mix that includes bands like Porcupine Tree, Opeth, Big & Rich, Brian Eno and Francois Bayle... well I mean other than maybe your house. The point is I enjoy the diversity. There is so much good music in the world and I enjoy sharing it all with my listeners.

It has always been important to me to give up and coming artists exposure. So there have been times over the years where I have interviewed local and established artists, had them play live in the studio or bring in recordings to share on the air. Always interesting and fun. As a musician/composer myself I certainly understand the artists need for exposure.

In years past I had the time to keep the show play-lists updated. I must apologize for not having the time to do that recently. Show play lists can be found on line at wwuh.org that go back 31 days. I will do my best to get it together again for that. If you have any questions about what I have played on the Greatest Show From Earth or what Susan has played on Ambience, please contact me and I'll do my best to answer your questions.

I have been a station member at WWUH since 1982. My friend Susan (ambience) let me sit in on a few Synthesis shows that she was hosting at the time. Friends and mentors, Michael Clare, Phil Bradford and Andy Taylor, both respected progressive rock DJ's at WWUH and WRTC were also very encouraging. Michael was one of the original owners of Capital Record Shop in Hartford where I worked with him and Andy in the early 1980's.

I have always enjoyed listening to music with my friends. For those of you who are avid radio listeners and record collectors you will understand. Being the host of The Greatest Show From Earth has taken me from my home stereo, where I sat countless hours with friends, to sitting behind the board at WWUH sharing music with the listening audience.

I enjoy hosting this show and being a station member at WWUH. I have fun presenting TGSFE doing my best to present the show in a classic underground radio format. I share the controls with many talented DJ's like Gary Levin, Mark Santini, Kevin O'toole, Eugene Hazanov, Rob Turner, David Agasi and even the ambient princess herself, Susan Mullis. I hope you enjoy the adventure as much as we do as we explore new and old music in the realms of progressive space rock.

Sonic Landscapes,

Strong Flashes of light.

Images of "other" times,

an entropy of thought.

You will become transparent...

The environment that surrounds you will be transformed

and you will be completely exposed to the night sky.

By now you are pure TELTAN energy

Soon your imaginations will be set free

and again, we will be one with the entire Universe.
